Pet supplies that will keep Mr. Fido content and healthy

Any pet owner will tell you that dogs and cats are not just pets; they are part of the family. They warm their way into your heart and, as a result, you will do anything to keep them happy and healthy for years to come. There are a number of pet supplies that you can keep on hand so that your little family member can live a long and healthy life.

  • Toys: Both dogs and cats love their toys. Whether it is a chew toy that your little pup can teethe on (instead of your shoes), or the mouse that your cat keeps trying to catch, toys will keep your pets entertained for hours.
  • Food: Find a food that they like and stick with it. You may want to mix dry food with some leftovers, or some wet food, but be careful; they may not go back to dry food again!
  • Treats: Beef jerky, tuna flavored treats and dog bones can be given once in a while as a treat. They are effective when training your dog as well. (Cats – well, everyone knows they cannot be trained, they do their own thing!)
  • Shampoo: Most dogs love a good scrub; be sure that the shampoo is hypo-allergenic. Many shampoos include a flea-repellent/treatment as well.
  • Flea Collars/Treatments: If your pet goes outside, flea collars are a must. Change them on a regular basis, and have your vet check for ticks and fleas on their scheduled vaccination appointments. Everyone should have these in their arsenal of pet supplies.
  • Brush: Both dogs and cats love a good brushing. It is relaxing for both pet and owner. Sit down one evening a week and unwind after work by giving your pet a good brushing.
  • Beds: They will want to make your bed their own, but with a bit of prodding and training, they will come to like their own warm, soft bed on the floor. There are a variety of sizes that will suit any size dog, from a Pomeranian to a Great Dane.
  • Grooming Tools: Some owners do not like to clip their pets’ nails, and others do not mind at all. There are mobile groomers that can do this for you, if you are a bit squeamish and inexperienced.
  • Food and Water Systems: This is one of most important pet supplies that you can have. There is a wide selection available, from simple food and water dishes to elaborate self-feeding systems. Placemats will complete your pets’ dining area nicely.
