If you are obese or trying to lose weight, the majority of dietitians would advise you to choose healthy, toned milk. Although they might be correct that healthy toned milk has fewer calories than full-fat organic milk, new studies suggest that full-fat organic milk may actually be more effective at lowering the risk of obesity.
The most recent studies and reviews
1). According to a recent review on dairy fat that was published in the European Journal of Nutrition, there is no clear evidence that full-fat organic milk can cause type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. According to the review, people who choose low-fat dairy products like healthy toned milk face the same risks. The review goes on to say that the only difference is that low-fat milk products have fewer calories.
2). At the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Dr. Mario Kratz and his team looked at 25 studies about dairy fat. They discovered that full-fat dairy products like the best full cream milk were associated with lower risk of obesity, better weight management, and weight loss in 18 of these studies. The remaining seven studies did not conclude anything.
3) About 1500 middle-aged and older people participated in a study that was published in the Scandinavian Journal of Primary Health Care. The group’s obesity rate was compared to their milk and milk products consumption in the study. Butter, cream, and best full-cream milk were found to lower obesity rates than dairy fat, compared to those who did not consume dairy fat.
How it works
In light of the fact that full-fat organic milk products have more calories, how is it possible that they are better able to fight obesity than low-fat dairy products like healthy toned milk, which have fewer calories? Although there isn’t a single study that proves this, there is growing evidence that full-fat dairy products like the best full cream milk may make you feel fuller faster, limiting your food intake during and even after a meal. As a result, you eat less, which helps you control your weight better. Full-fat dairy products like organic full cream milk, according to some doctors, may also have an impact on gene expression and hormone regulation, which in turn may help the body store less fat.
Despite the lack of a conclusive study, growing evidence suggests that organic full-fat milk and other full-fat dairy products may not be the cause of weight gain. In fact, they may actually help you avoid becoming overweight.
