Local Organic Food Options for Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Health

To be gifted a human life is a Divine blessing that we must learn to utilize to our highest potential. Lately, many people are taking their own lives as a result of the suffering they endure. People are over medicated, over eating and generally unconscious of how their food choices are negatively affecting their minds, bodies and spirits. The changing energies presently occurring in 2012 are forcing us to wake up and take notice of how we are choosing to live our lives. Do we continue in this sleeping walk through our lives, blindly accepting the choices large corporations and governments are forcing upon us or do we choose for ourselves what is healthy and right? Now is the time for us to arouse ourselves out of the dream-state we have been living and inquire for ourselves and make choices that support our spiritual growth, health and well-being!

By learning to bring a sense of sacredness into our daily lives, we can begin this process of conscious evolution. One way is to attune more with exactly what we are doing in each moment. The foods we eat play a huge unseen role in our process of purification and spiritual advancement. The food we eat today is modified and fortified, full of pesticides, hormones and preservatives which no longer makes our food organic. We hardly take the time to cook ourselves our own meals anymore. Our grandparents made everything from “scratch” and bought foods from their local markets. As a child, I remember my grandmother walking to her neighborhood market and buying fresh meats, grains and produce. Then she would go home and start preparing a large meal for her whole family, with love.

It has been documented time and again that by eating fresh organic foods closest to their natural state of origination, creates healthier people. We are a meat eating culture and we feed cows more grains than some other countries feed themselves. The energy it takes to keep these animals alive for our consumption is not efficient. We have been taught that we need so much protein to survive but we have become a nation of over eaters who over-consume more protein than we actually need. I’m not saying that we should all become vegetarians but if one were to do the research themselves, we find that vegetarians and vegans are generally in better health, are not as medicated, look younger and live longer, happier lives.

Think about the life span of an average animal that is solely raised for the purpose of our consumption. They are not living free lives but are caged, pumped full of various drugs and force fed foods they normally wouldn’t eat to fatten them up so we can have more meat or milk products. These are creatures are then brought to the slaughter house and die brutal deaths at the hands of people who have desensitized themselves to perform their job. These dead animals are then processed and packaged, shipped and stocked on the shelves of our supermarket in freezers or refrigerators until someone buys them. Then we cook this meat and are essentially eating corpses full of negative energy.

If people were to really pay attention to how they feel after they eat in this way, they would notice that they are not feeling energetic, light and healthy. Many people are medicated for various digestive dysfunctions and don’t think twice about popping a pill to mask the symptom to the source of the problem. More people in the West are also obese which not only puts a strain on their physical systems and minds but also stresses our health care system. Who is really benefiting from this pathological pattern of Western eating habits? It certainly isn’t the average person!

When we shift our eating habits, we not only become more healthy, happy and fit but we also begin to shift in our energetic body. We become more conscious! We become one with ourselves, our food and our environment. By purchasing our food from our local farmers market we meet the people who grow or raise or food. We support our local community rather than big businesses and large corporations that are pushing out small farm and family farmers. We reduce the need to use fossil fuels which are used to process and transport foods from corporate farms that destroy our environment by poisoning our lands, cutting down our trees and pushing wildlife to the brink of extinction. We, the people, hold the power and can make this shift to reflect a more natural way of living and mutually support each other with awareness, love and full consciousness!
